Impossible Foods makes a wheat protein burger with taste and aroma of meat.

Nice if it works. Not so much for cattle as they are a chief source of methane.

You would be too if all you ate was wheatburgers.

"There is more heme in soy root nodules than in all of the meat in the US diet. Harvesting root nodules for heme is a bad idea."

These sentences are just wonderful. I think I'll use them in my next song.

This one is a gem too:" Impossible Foods discovered how to take heme from plants and produce it using fermentation — similar to the method that’s been used to make Belgian beer for nearly a thousand years"

Yes, that article is a gem. I do wonder what the burgers really taste like though.

It can't be that difficult to design a vegan burger patty. You only need fat, salt, a sponge and some spices and flavors and bacon. Then remove the bacon.

If you really don't want to eat flesh, you shouldn't really want to simulate the eating of flesh...

    Should you?

But it tastes so good with Diet Coke...

I think for many vegans it's not so much meat per se that they are objecting to, but the cruel and inhumane industrial meat production and processing. They've thought long and hard about the ethical issues surrounding, eg, cattle in feedlots and industrial meat-packing plants. Not to mention the chickens and pigs in large-scale production.

Now, if your average vegan could just slaughter and dress her own pig, she'd probably enjoy eating the bacon as much as any of us would.

    Or maybe not.

Plant and stem cell based meat has normal meat taste but no antibiotics or hormones.
