    Never.

    Bessel beams do not spread out, but they do lose power. The idea is that the power in the beam percolates out sideways as it goes, but in doing so, it reforms the central intense region, which stays (relatively) much the same area.

    And anyway there is some kind of false parallel here between Fresnel LENS and Bessel BEAM.
