Ever read R.U.R.? I use the word in its original sense.

In R.U.R. robots are hunks of synthetic protoplasm to perform labor. Much discussion ensues about unfairly exploiting them. Eventually, such hunks achieve self-awareness and rise up against their human overlords.

    But they're still robots.

    I never finished it.

I believe our descendants will be in the cloud or even fluctuations in spacetime.
  1.
I know someone with fluctuations, and believe me it's not pleasant.

    Happy Arthursday:

    Colonizing the Sun

I think the best way to colonize a sun is to park a nice blue planet in a round orbit about 1 AU out, where it's nice and balmy, and live on that.

If you can call it a living.
    eh?

That stellaser looks like a gift that may well keep on giving. Great as a Beamer for fast outgoing trips, great as a brake for incoming trips, great for communications at extreme distances, and great for power distribution to the more power-starved regions of our system - like out at the grav solar focus. An all-round champion, and its power supply is free.

Already posted in the Mars life thread.

Angus reckons the bloke is biased.

    You have seen it.
  5.
Well, the extraordinary hypothesis is alien life, and the ordinary one is mineralogy. I'm inclined to the latter for no better reason than we don't yet have any other indicators of Martian life.

Stop agreeing with me or making me agree with you.

What use would a forum be if everybody agreed with each other?
  6.
    I agree.
