    Well, elastic bands don't work at least on candles.

    As the engine when running relies on heat to melt/vapourise the solids, I would speculate that some external heat is needed to start the process.

    Additional speculation is that the engine covers the base of the rocket to strengthen it so that gravity can assist the melting rods into the engine, even more costly speculation suggests that the jet from the engine might be slightly offset to cause it to rotate like a mincing machine, until I see the colour of your money that is all the speculation you will get from me on this subject.

    Feh, grasping at straws, Trim. Lots of "what ifs" and cost of extraction, if possible, may well exceed the value of the commodities.

    As a similar analogy, consider the quantity of gold in our oceans--and then consider the cost of extraction of one gram of gold per 100 million tons of seawater.
