Long but good discussions by commercial pilots:

    https://www.pprune.org/rumours-news/606439-plane-crash-nepal-s-kathmandu-airport.html

... full transcript of ATC coms and an airport diagram at bottom of first page. Someone wrote that the conversation from the aircraft is so confused that they suspect hypoxia may have been a factor. But the conversation from the tower was not a while lot better.
  2.
Non-standard comms, visual flight in marginal visibility, the 02-20 confusion, likely lined up initially for a taxiway, circle-to-land approach, botched go-around, nearly hit tower, supercritical wing, loss of control, smoking hole. Clusterfuck.

    Supercritical wing on a Dash-8?

Not the kind of thing in which you want to be making steep turns, at low altitude especially.

(Does it use spoilers instead of ailerons for roll control?)

    There we agree.

Icing? The other Dash-8 incident (in Buffalo) was due to icing.
  3.
I don't think anyone has mentioned possibility of icing in this case.

The planform of the original dash8 is a lot more reasonable. The insanely stretched Q400 with essentially the same wing as the original (just a slight increase in span) is just... insane. Like tightrope walking--- all is well as long as you stay within an increasingly narrow range of parameter space.

I haven't liked them in the past, however we had a very pleasant flight from Svolvaer to Bodo on an otherwise empty 100 series, chatting to the steward up the back of the plane all the way, and I must say it was a very comfortable flight.

I have to admit they look strange. And you have to keep the tail off the ground.. I fly on Dash-8s quite regularly on the mainland-island hop and I think they're fine.

Not with the nice, gay Norwegian steward it didn't

Pity, well I suspect you were a bit too old for her but I hope you gave it a good try and didn't let the trap down.

I've only ever seen rollmops in jars, not bags. In the next aisle over from the cobblers.
