No. It won't. It will take place over many years and is currently not even within anyone's sight.

We seem to be getting very close to a decent quantum computer that might change things if we let it.

You can make a cellular automaton generate prime numbers

But you can't make it think.

    Boredom matters. It is important.

Boredom sometimes drives us towards trouble, but sometimes boredom also drives us to invest and devote sufficient time, effort and concentration to come up with really innovative and creative ideas and follow through on them all the way to completion and also to increase our knowledge and skill sets by taking new courses and studying for additional qualifications etc.

Necessity might well be the mother of invention, but boredom is often the father.

There have always been destructive / non-productive ways to avoid boredom such as mischief, recreational drug abuse and passive forms of entertainment such as watching television etc., but has the Internet (and smartphones and social media in particular) made it far too easy and convenient for us to avoid boredom by pursuing worthless endeavors?

Is this one of the reasons why everything seems to be getting shittier?

I find it very difficult to be bored if I have anything to think about, and there is lots to think about.
