Exactly. You don't let them drive cars uninsured. This weird notion of untrammelled individual liberty in certain areas (guns, health care), but not in others (lefty politics, abortion) is unfathomable.

Incidentally, I assume from your handle that you're Dutch. Excellent system. I am using it these days.

    Not Dutch, but real close.

Burgundy then. I was just looking you up and discovered to my surprise that there was a United States of Belgium for almost a hundred years.

What country are you from? Is it in Europe? Because chances are, your international debt is much higher than the US.

I looked it up and you're right about the per capita level, but the US is still numero uno on the whole.
Besides, can you tell me how the precious dollar has so far fared as reserve currency in the past decade?
That'll give you an indication of how well trusted the US economy has become.

Pretty soon my country may be no more if our politicians keep up the work.

Yeah, that kaiser permanente is awesome.

Buddy of mine was getting colonoscopy with KP and when they got done with him, they put him in a plastic chair . . . in a row of plastic chairs . . . an of course, after a colonoscopy, one is required to perform a variety of French Horn, trombone and tuba solos, of the kind usually reserved for the porcelain organ.

Want to play in the Brass section at the colonoscopy lab? Join Kaiser Permanente!!!

I have heard that. We have been watching you as a bad example because we have similar problems in my own. Good luck!

Socialised medicine pros and cons? I thought the pros worked the streets and the cons worked the pool-halls. Amazing what goes on in the medical profession.

Overheard 20 years ago at a VA Hospital ward for old WW2 veterans: "Wow. Look at these guys. How the hell did we win the war?" "Well, I worked in German VA hospital last year and the way we won is that the other side was worse."

Looks like they may be getting back to work. Pity to spoil a record for being without a government that is second only to Somalia's.
