    My bet: it hacks the battery levels to show an emptier battery during the day and when you use the app it restores the real info.

    You got it...

    'The mobile app claims to store excess battery power when an Android smartphone is charged overnight. When the battery runs low during the day, a phone can be recharged in 30 seconds by accessing stored power through the app, it was claimed.'

    It may actually just tamper with the power reserve/state of charge indicator.

    No, it stores the extra energy from the charger overnight in the cloud, over the data connection (data rates may apply). Then when you need it, the app downloads it and puts it into the battery.

    Doesn't it?

    (I think the app hasn't been released yet because the inventors discovered a major bug: the phone has to be at least partially charged in order to be able to download the extra energy from the Web.)

    It harvests the Free Energy of Truth. There is much of this around these days as it is freed up by the spread of Truthiness.

    It is disappointing that Steorn disappeared before they thought up "Orbo:the self powering APP". It would be especially APT for a self powered telephone. It could self power itself round and round in a feedback loop until it exploded in a puff of violet-scented tobacco vapour.

    Looking back three years ago, we had all sorts of free energy scams to comment on. Is the world wising up? Is LENR the only big thing on the miracle energy menu now?

    The name seems quite prophetic. Either in Scots or Latin. But in both cases the omen is bad.

    The world wising up? Hah. I laugh in your general direction.

    Things just change names.

    Alchemy -- > Cold fusion --> LENR
    Perpetual motion --> Free energy
