    Whut? Cameras detect intensity. How are you going to measure phase?

    OK but you need fantastically accurate clocks aboard too in order to record the phase of the radio waves. Unless you want to invest in the interesting problem of correcting on the ground for doppler shift, relativity, continuously changing baseline, and a whole lot of issues I can't even imagine.

    And what is the real advantage? You hardly increase the resolution - the maximum baseline is a few hundred km more than the diameter of the earth. I suppose we haven't actually achieved the full diameter with ground based astronomy yet, but there's a principle involved here.

    If you want a really difficult problem with real potential join the guys working on the interferometer using the Trojan points.
