If they have double the capacity why does the equipment only run "40% longer"?

Not a sister company of Steorn are they?

The Si nanowire anode research appeared a few years ago. This looks like they licensed and have been developing it. AFAIK it is a legitimate technology.

Yes I'm sure I read about it in New Scientist some time back.

I take it that you never read, or else you just don't comprehend the articles that you post.

    "100 cycles"
  2.
They quote that spec in the context "shows promise". I believe you're being unnecessarily harsh.

Battery cycle life is a big deal. Many promising developments got to 100 cycles years and years ago and still have not made it into production. These PO fluff pieces tend to way over hype individual developments that may ultimately contribute to something useful as though each is a water shed break through.

I wonder what the promise to product ratio is. Probably three figures

    Or more.

One of the engineers just demonstrated how to cut your lithium battery capacity by 90 percent or more. He made an adaptor so that he could take his spare battery and directly plug it into his USB port. He was puzzled why his 3.7 V battery was kilt by this. Thank god, he wasn't one of the EEs.

But here's a neat little board to make it work:

You can get it here for a good bit more than a buck with shipping; but, maybe Alibaba will sell 'em for that if shipped in quantity.

I can cut it by 100%. I just throw it away.

S's friend Fried Mike, the fellow who is making a swallowable GPS tracker for his cows... did pretty much the same thing, fried his 3.7 v GPS battery by connecting it in parallel with... six volts of alkaline AAAs. Then he wanted me to tell him why it happened, since he measured "about 6 V" open-circuit voltage coming from the unit's proper charger.

    Nice find.

Maybe airliners can fly safer, with less fire risk.

E-vol battery planes will like it as well.
