While the researchers’ tiny device is still a long way from being useful against pollution, this type of thinking and innovation is the key to progress. Clean energy production and pollution are both massive and worsening environmental, financial, and medical issues. Climate change is not slowing down, and so our efforts to combat it should only be intensifying.

A lack of practicality and effectiveness happened.

That seems wasteful - they could use the gas right where it's emitted. The energy requirements of sewage plants exceed what can be obtained by burning off their CH4 emissions.

It's interesting that it is worthwhile to burn CH4 and emit CO2 because emitted CH4 is some 200 times worse than CO2 as a greenhouse gas.

I'm forcing myself to learn about this stuff these days.

Hope the next climate change conference can come up with something decent.
