Where are all the aliens? Rob Reid discusses Fermi's Paradox with physicist Stephen Webb

a great discussion with some emphasis on rare earth and great barrier/filter hypotheses

Aliens exist and could already be on earth, first British astronaut says

Dr Helen Sharman says "there's no two ways" that aliens exist and that it's possible "we simply can't see them".

The first British astronaut to go into space has claimed aliens exist and it is possible they are living among us on earth.

...depending on one's definition of "alien". Is a meteorite an "alien" object?

Maybe not so crazy. In context she was saying that we might not recognise alien life since we don't know what we are looking for. If there are some strange bacteria based on a different origin hidden deep in some crevice somewhere, how would we know? If you allow the idea that life might have originated on early Mars and been transferred here, for example, then all life is alien to this planet. The story just looks like bad reporting.

Posted By: Angus...then all life is alien to this planet...

That would make a hot self-denuclearization the most patriotic gesture of human humility.

    Waidmannsheil

A hunting term originating in Germany to congratulate a hunter on his success in the field.

Has since been used in England to congratulate a male friend on an achievement, no matter the size or actual significance.

Person 1: Did you score with that bird last night?

Person 2: Yes, I got me some big clitty time!

    Person 1: Waidmannsheil!

It is also used in a more sarcastic context, interchangeable with 'good luck with that...(obviously stupid endeavor)'.
And it can, following the above description, also be applied to future events.
