Interesting talk. Perhaps antimatter propulsion would work for a small probe, but I wonder what the overall efficiency of the entire project is: electricity in to propulsive energy out. It seems like it wouldn't support any large scale rocketry.

And I'd want to be far away from the orbital launch of a few grams of anticarbon held in a permanent magnet trap.

Don't forget Saturn is supposed to have more than that in its radiation belts and it might be possible to use antimatter to trigger small nuclear fusion bombs.

That 2 grams represents about 2E14 Joules annually.
Terrestrial energy consumption is about 6E20 Joules.

So, assuming the usual sorts of efficiency for accelerators, you would suck the earth's grid dry making antimatter.

He seems to have devised something more efficient than that, which I believe was really the gist of the talk. Pity he didn't quote the energy efficiency though. Or did I miss it?

    So is everything else.

But is it a wave or an anti-wave?

Ah, like a middle finger then.

Isn't it ironic how a web site focused on pie in the sky tech and perpetual motion can call itself revolution-green?

Not really, since they rotate the same old puke week after week.
