Liquid air = liquid N₂ BP -196C; you can have a mixture of N₂ and O₂, but the nitrogen always boils off first.

The basis of an 1890s investment scam the "Liquid Air Automobile Company".

There is this but low energy density. There is a commercial effort, Highview Power, but it's strictly stationary installation stuff; they're not proposing liquid air cars.

    Mountains are high.
    no shame in that.

    We could use spare
    energy from renewables,
    when <ahem>
    that sort of stuff works
    to provide impulsive
    shocks to
    large
    teams
    of mice to
    pull
    massive rocks up
    hillsides.

The finely woven nanao-grahene harnesses, capable of evenly distributing the power of a billion shocked mice, is of course, are a matter of mere engineering detail.

    Suffice to say, there
    were numbers.

    The rocks would,
at the top be released and
    roll
    down
    right to
    the very
    bottom.

    Trim,
    not
    that
    kind
    of
    bottom.

    You perv.

But the rocks would impact huge springs
    constrainted by nifty ratcheting
    mechanism
    s
    mechanisms.

    Yes.
    That.

    So energy would
    be stored and
    well, pull the
    trigger and
    like,
    boom.

    Power.

    So yea,
    that
    could really be a thing.

A new take on gravity storage.

WORLD’S LARGEST ELECTRIC VEHICLE IS A 110-TONNE DUMP TRUCK THAT NEEDS NO CHARGING.

Meh, you're taking stuff from the top of the hill and dumping it at the bottom. Most mining operations operate the reverse way--stuff is dug out of a hole and hauled up out of it.

You could have a purely mechanical system (ore cars running on rails) and get the same effect.

Of course, some high coalmines deliver coal down this way and lift the empty trucks up, sometimes with miners.

It can only be a matter of time before mountains are seen by our corporate overlords as energy mines. Roll all that rock downhill and ... profit!

Well stuff is already falling into the sea.

I wonder how much energy a detaching giant iceberg has?

In the heating-up environment, perhaps more thermal than gravitational. I'm too busy to do the calculation.

    No need. Melting is endothermic.

I agree more thermal than gravitational, this is solely thermal.
