We bought our second electric car Friday, for mrs Ping. Once you drive electric there is no way back.

It’s the Opel Ampera-E, the European name for the Chevy Bolt. Not very sexy, but very practical. With a real range of 380km and a 0-100 km/h in 7.3 seconds. Mrs Ping typically drives 30 km per day.

The dealers have to dump the Ampera-E, as Opel has been sold to Peugeot. Therefor the price was the reduced by over 15k euro. It’s the most luxurious edition of the Ampera-E and it is now 34k euro (we pay 28k euro excl. tax, as it is bought as a “company car”).

Now, in a colossal claim, QuantumScape, a 10-year-old San Jose, California, startup backed by Bill Gates, said in an interview that it has resolved lithium’s problems, and that VW, the giant German automaker, expects to have cars using pure metallic lithium in their batteries on the road by 2025.

Are you sure that is not 350 Wh/kg? Doubt it is kWh. Big difference.

No. No, the energy is definitely kWhr.

I got the weight wrong. It should say Mg.

    ;)
