One of the favorite methods of defeating bike locks is to use liquid N₂ and a hammer to shatter it. Much faster than sawing.

Would this hybrid material be resistant to that?

BOR's "different feel" does sound suspiciously audiophiley. Not that how you feel about stuff isn't important in either domain. It just doesn't change the physics.

On further research, it looks like you're right. Though not quite into audiophile territory, thank you. After all carbon and aluminum are different materials with different qualities. This isn't like claiming that the stand for your amp gives you a "softer midrange" or whatever.

Don’t different frame materials dampen vibrations to varying degrees?

By simply tapping on a metal frame you will find it ‘rings’ as it has rather low damping properties. In comparison, when you tap a carbon frame it makes a dull ‘thump’ sound. This is because carbon fibre inherently has more damping than metals do. More damping equals better vibration attenuation.

However....well you can read the rest of the debunking for the however.

Basically a thick set of tires (along with the rest of the components) is far more important.

Different beasts. My references were to road bikes, not the off-road variety.

Narrow tires at high pressure. Hard narrow leather seats. Dropped handlebars. Steep fork rake. Bicycle built for speed.

Given that most of the rider's weight is over the rear wheel, I wonder if trying to drive the front wheel with the motor is a good idea.

I'm close to 400km on the odo and the motor's whine makes my geese bump into each other.

    It still works.

Also, too, I am such an idiot for having embraced the trumpian ideology of physical activity and sports.

Biking my body to near exhaustion is better than almost everything else.
Not the first time it took me 30+ years to learn something substantial.
