I was a major Atari fan from the 800 onward. Pooh to the Commodore 63.5.

Given the increasing age of the technology and gender of the users, perhaps these kind of discussions should be in the category "floppy dick threads".

I had a C64 too, but then I upgraded to ATARI ST, and i was such a 'proud boy' for being a member of that cult. I can't even imagine what could have happened to my brain if I bought an Amiga at that time..

For a short time, I was an official ST developer (worked out some ACSI-interface gear). When it became clear that Atari wasn't ever going to take the time to develop, I dropped them and concentrated on IBM stuff. Donated boxes of technical material to a Chicago-area hobbyist group.

I did own an ST - the monochrome monitor was sharp. We have come a long way.

I still prefer the mice with a plutonium ball over the what we nowadays use.
Except for hand-cancer, they were also pretty great at giving passive haptic feedback.

    Haptic times...

Oh how we forget to pay homage to the miracle of mice without balls.

I quite like the trackball thing I bought for my ... err, "music space".

But maybe mostly because a mouse there was so awful.

Still have a couple of the big C-H Products trackballs (use a standard billiard ball)--and a Cirque trackpad.

And they also beat the hell out of that little Yamaha sound-chiplet with that Daft Punk inspired soundtrack.

And it's perfectly in-sync with the visuals.
