Momentum tethers will be sooner than space elevators.

Not in a jiffier state though.

    A shred of optimism

Does the fact that Nature appears to interpolate, or indeed predict the future, show new physics?

I thought the post-Newtonian revolution was telling us that the future was a matter of statistics.
  4.
It was always like that, unless one cleaves to predestination. But that qubit control technique is spooky, since it implies that the remainder of the integral is already known. IOW there's a chink in the armour of reality here perhaps. Some recent experiments have demonstrated entanglement across time, so perhaps that's something to do with the spookiness. Whatever's going on with this 1000x superior qubit control, I don't like it. Don't like it at all, I tell you.

We will have a commercially relevant quantum computer - one that's solving real problems - within five years," says Dr Julie Love, Microsoft's director of quantum computing business development.

She is already out selling the company's customers a vision of a near future where quantum computers will help battle climate change, create new superconducting materials and super-charge machine learning.

Ah yes, the "we'll fix climate change with this technology" trope. No we won't--not as long as the deniers are in charge.

    Says it all, I think.

Losing information through decoherence? But where does it go? I thought information could not be created or destroyed, just changed in form. And information always increases. And information aggregates, from lower to higher.
    Or something like that.
  11.
Actually information is the same as negentropy, and so since entropy increases with time, information DEcreases.
