I agree. There's a limit to my socialism!
  2.
It's just a setup for institutionalized bribery. Can't you "buy a permit" to do just about anything you like?
  3.
    Wheee!

The avocado-green oversized rat-infested ancient gas pilot-lit kitchen stove is _gone_ to the scrap heap and we have a brand-old, scratch-dent GE gas range with electronic ignition and a working oven installed in the kitchen.

God doesn't even want you to think about what was covering the floor under the old rat-infested stove.
  4.
I bet the pies at your place tasted interesting
  5.
"Waiter, what's this rat doing in my rhubarb pie?"

"Well 'e arn't moining Bitcoin, izzee now."

Charles Mackay proposes in The Gaelic Etymology of the Languages of Western Europe that the seemingly meaningless string of syllables "Fa fe fi fo fum" is actually a coherent phrase of ancient Gaelic, and that the complete quatrain covertly expresses the Celts' cultural detestation of the invading Angles and Saxons:

Fa from faich (fa!) "behold!" or "see!"
    Fe from Fiadh (fee-a) "food";
Fi from fiú "good to eat"
Fo from fogh (fó) "sufficient" and
    Fum from feum "hunger".
Thus "Fa fe fi fo fum!" becomes "Behold food, good to eat, sufficient for my hunger!"

Well, I don't have any blood of an Englishman but ...

Today I did bake half a dozen cornbread muffings as a test case for our brand-old GE XL44 gas range oven.

Surprisingly the thermostat is right on -- at least the numbers on the knob agree with the numbers on the little oven thermometer we bought this morning.

The muffings cooked perfectly but were rather bland due to the packaged mix I used. Not nearly as good as my "from scratch" recipe.

Fa? I just learned "fee fie fo fum", no fa.

Err, ramen. It's all in the broth.
  8.
    That's what worries me.

Some of the stuff in that broth looks like it might bite you back.

A perfect end to chicken feet and pigs trotters.
