    If I understand this right, they have seen one collision of two relatively light neutron stars, and one collision of two relatively heavy neutron stars. On the basis of this statistical sample they infer that light and heavy neutron star collisions occur at equal rates, which doesn't agree with current models of neutron stars.

    Isn't that a bit previous for a statistical conclusion? I mean I sympathise with the scarcity of data but that's no reason to get ridiculous.

    Astrophysics is almost metaphysics. Everything we know or think we know about astrophysics comes to us as through a glass, and darkly.

    Could an intelligent species get very far if they couldn't see the stars? Like maybe it's cloudy all the time. We aren't in much better shape. Can't even hardly see by the neutrinos, and at the other end, our ability to see gravity waves is like a deaf person at the opera, feeling the vibration of her seat during the baritone's aria.
