The house is at 3544 N 15th St., it's a five level fortress.

You can tour it on Zillow. Second level has some fire damage.
  1.
Helicopter views show what seems to be dozens of police vehicles at the scene. Several dozens, perhaps many dozens. Is that really necessary against one or a couple shooters no matter how well armed they might be? Doesn't it leave other parts of the city without needed police coverage? Don't they get in each other's way?
  2.
    One hundred cops, reportedly.

    USA!

They are all of them hoping to be able to kill someone legally. Why else could they possibly be there, but in order to aim a firearm at the subject(s) of the armed standoff?
  4.
    Yanks, eh? Whatcha gonna do?

No, that's not how racism works.

    And there is the NRA.
  6.
    It was a rhetorical question.

At least five dead in Texas random shootings

At least one gunman shot randomly at people while driving round an area between the western cities of Odessa and Midland on Saturday afternoon.
This is the stuff of nightmares. How can you live like this?

Just regulate guns the way you regulated cars.
Unleaded ammo. Mandatory insurance. Safety tests, etc. A loud beeping sound when a gun is drawn from the holster. The possibilities are endless.

Today a saw - or better heard - a paralyzed person on a wheelchair driving backwards and it (the wheelchair) beeped to save bystanders from certain death.

How about limiting muzzle velocity of firearms? The assault-style AR-15 spits out lead at 3,300 fps (about 1km/sec). Causes incredible tissue and bone damage.

By comparison, the muzzle velocity of a .38 calibre "police special" S&W is less than a third of that--and can't be fired at anywhere near the rate of an AR-15.

    mv² and all that.

Limiting it to zero would help. Otherwise I suspect it would just be a complication.

I think it might help a little bit. There is nothing at all wrong with implementing lots of easily implementable measures that would each help a little bit. The key is not to avoid doing things that you could and should be doing just because they don’t completely solve the problem and fix everything immediately. Don’t let the perfect become the enemy of the good etc.
