Not at all. Progress is forgetting how well things used to work.

Yah. Can't add a mouse or arrow keys to an iOS device. Why the fuck not?

You may want to add an Apple Mouse. It's wireless design makes it the least functional mouse ever created. You can't use it when it's charging.

A friend's father came to visit recently and he didn't bring the cell phone charger. "Why would I? I'm just staying here for a week!", he said. He has an old Nokia, of course.

Because Apple knows what you need, and you don't need a mouse or arrow keys.

Unless, of course, you actually use a computer for something other than gaming or communications.

Old, OLD sign which, I believe originated at IBM: WHAT WE NEED AROUND HERE IS LESS ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE AND MORE OF THE REAL THING.

It's a smaller example but Amazon's autopricing goes amuck regularly with low priced items having their price changed into thousands of dollars (even hundreds of thousands for an ordinary $15 book once). And that is for no obvious reason. And they have improved but not fixed it.

Posted By: maryyugoWeird new idea that can't work but some people are investing millions. Is this a bet that no concept targeting ignorant computer users can fail?

    http://www.nytimes.com/2013/02/09/technology/snapchat-a-growing-app-lets-you-see-it-then-you-dont.html?pagewanted=2&_r=0

The idea is that your photos disappear in a short time when posted to this site. But, OBVIOUSLY, anyone who SEES the image can press Print Scrn (or the equivalent capture utility in iOS or whatever) and the image is no longer temporary.

The other weird claim is that if the image *is* captured that way, the author will know it. Really? Just how does this web site know what keys are pressed on the remote computer? That is, without installing a key logger which would be universally unacceptable?
This is hilarious. It didn't seem viable to me. I have never used it. It is being touted as worth $25 billion. Go figger.

    http://www.wsj.com/articles/snapchat-parent-working-on-ipo-that-could-value-company-at-25-billion-or-more-sources-1475778314

Maybe I should only invest in things I don't get or things I hate?

In the unlikely event that you are clueless about this thing as I am,

Not good enough--there are 7 billion faces after all. FB needs to ask for a sample of DNA in addition.

Facebook accused of spamming 2FA phone numbers

Facebook is being accused of spamming people via the phone numbers they used to turn on two-factor authentication (2FA) and posting their “PLEASE STOP!!” replies to their walls.

Software engineer Gabriel Lewis noticed it late last month and told Facebook to please knock it off: a request that 1) Facebook’s systems ignored, merrily continuing to spam him and then 2) auto-posted to his wall.
