Brake fluid is a worse thing to leak than antifreeze.

    Gentlemen, we are degenerating
  2.
And some is red. But not in any cars I drive.

I remember fondly the time I decided to replace the brake fluid in my hot-rod '62 VW Beetle with Skydrol.

    It worked great.... one time.

The car would not move again until I took the whole brake system apart and flushed it all out, replaced all the wheel cylinder and master cylinder seals and refilled the system with Dot3 brake fluid.

I once topped up the engine sump of my 3 cylinder Yanmar diesel with hydraulic fluid. It didn't notice.

Really? In my day this was called praesodymium!

Really. You should have gone to a better day.
    Greek πρασιος, "leek green"

Thanks for that. The odd thing is that I've been misspelling it all my life and was never once corrected; nor have I ever noticed the error. Indeed I've used it several times here with impunity.

    Seems I'm not alone either

There is a translucent variety of quartz called prase, of the colour described.

In your defence, the ordinary man is required to spell "praseodymium" few times during his life.
  5.
Oh, I'm sure the miners of it have the name down pat.

Pat needs the metal, not the name.
