The Irish Times didn't test the Orbo Cube in 2016?

Well that takes us back. Has there ever been such an elaborate science con? Makes Rossi look like a garage tinkerer.

I'm still wondering who conned whom. There was one interesting and obscure magnetic phenomenon that was slightly counterintuitive, and this was parlayed into the whole Steorn Orbo shtick. But who originally brought that phenomenon to the attention of the Steorn lads? And was it presented as something interesting, or as something that would actually allow perpetual motion machines to be built?

Who knew that running a current through a coil wrapped around a toroid would actually _reduce_ its attraction to a permanent magnet, and that this effect was polarity-independent, both for current and magnet poles? And who knew that this effect, when combined with square-loop BH characteristics, would be so sensitive to application of an external field, as from magnets rushing past cores? Somebody plotted this whole thing out and I don't for a moment believe it was the Seanster or any of the other principal lads.

    Follow the money.
But SMC is really good at playing the innocent idiot that stumbled over a magnetic anomaly...

Remember that we found out that type of motor had been proposed and developed previously. So at least one person knew before we figured it out. Maybe Sean was channeling that person.
