Didn't realise that a mass driver could launch a cargo straight up from earth, without burning up.

I think the stuff is the first cousin to nitrogen tetroxide, which is really an oxidiser and not a fuel per se.

AFAIK, a few molecules of the stuff were detected only. I can only find cites based on that 2010 report and nothing about stability or mass production. I suspect that it won't be produced in the millions of liter quantities needed.

I suspect that tetrafluoroammonium octafluoroxenate (NF4)2XeF8 might make a better oxidiser, owing to its heavier molecular weight. Again, preparation, while possible, is a real bugger.

    2010 any progress?

25% of light is OK for me.

The trick is to go so fast that all obstacles are Fitzgerald-contracted and you rip through them as through tissue paper.
  4.
What keeps the obstacles from seeing you as Fitzgerald-contracted and ripping through you as through tissue paper?

Just a reminder: this proposal was for a way to simulate an Alcubierre drive. So I guess if you don't mind travelling through a metamaterial instead of free space, it might suit your purpose. Now you just have to fill the void between here and alpha-Kent with metamaterial.

We already have a huge amount. We just can't find it at the moment.
