Best I could do for a reference.

He was spot on. Imagine his horror at the motor car.

Add another "rail" for power/induction coils, I like this idea a lot.

That was another nice find by Andrew, I have been interested in power from roads ever since I first read about Glaser's Powersats and his claim of over 90% efficiency (since downgraded to about 50%) I thought straight away why not have 'powersats' buried in the road and recharge a capacitor that would trickle charge the vehicle batteries as it was going along.

It depends on cost if the suspended tracks can be made cheaply and safely enough then it could be a very good idea, although it will remove congestion from the motorways it might cause more at the destination as thousands of cars battle to get on standard roads.

Based on the fact that we'll take the easiest way forward to get our energy (like coal), and the possible near-future choices of SPS versus Focus Fusion, it would seem that the latter will prevail, if successful. SPS requires a lot of upfront investment (but then is free).

The Chinese don't think quite that way, so perhaps they will kick us in the arse when they deploy their own SPS.

The TNSAF is poorly sited for SPS but has no POTUS. The ROC is also deficient in nLAs.

Is the first stage the tractor, or the trailer? Or is it the for-the-masses electric car?

He's gonna need a lot of battery for that thing. I suspect that will be the main cost driver.
