    I don't think we actually know what shape it is. The elongated shape was postulated to explain why its magnitude seems to vary periodically. Maybe its a ball painted black on one side.

    The second stage motor is not recovered other than the capsule. With the first stage booster, refurbished would be a better description than recycled.
