So, both these people are known to me. Andamunda is my daughter and trainphreak is her boyfriend. Hello both.

I was hoping to persuade trainphreak to talk about some of his 'beliefs', a sort of "I believe the earth is 7000 years old, Ask me Anything".

I do appreciate how little fun that might be anywhere on the internet, even here. Silly idea.

If they do stick around, be gentle folks.

Hi trainphreak. That's what I DID say. You must have heard me wrong.

    Hello Andamunda.

    Welcome (and good luck!)
  2.
    Andamunda, elephant in Quenya elfish.

trainphreak, hmmm, do you know why the rails of a train are (standard gauge) are 4 ft. 8 1/2 in. apart?

    or are you a trainspotter?

Either way, I'm sure you will love being trapped!
  3.

But the earth is 7000 years old, plus another 4.5 billion years give or take.

    Hello both, welcome.

I didn't even know there were young earth people in the UK to be honest.

Presumably this belief arises out of a the teachings of a particular Christian church, and not because the earth just doesn't look like it's been around that long?

You have a cruel streak to bring him here :P. We'll try to be gentle, although you know us, this may not turn to be a so good idea.

So what is the belief PCSTRU is speaking about ? Young earth creationism ?

If yes, have you ever watched or read discussion about why and how we date the earth age ?

What do you think about it ?

    It's all strings and vibrations.

    Just ask Al.
  4.
Sure. Take a string, with two ends. All you have to do is make a single cut... then you have _four ends_. And the two new ones are on _different pieces_ of string!

    It's wonderful stuff.

    Not on a Möbius string.
