I will leave that one to them, for sure.

A flying robotic butler with a full tea service would be nice, too.

Can someone interpret the story for this poor benighted lad? Are we talking about autonomous possibly armed drones here? What's a geo-fence?

A geo-fence is a routine in the control software of a hobby-drone that stops you from flying it in areas that the geo-fence has been programmed to know about. Drones have onboard GPS systems, so it's not that hard to do. It sometimes also is able to stop the drone from getting too close to the controller which has its own GPS system. I don't really know what relevance that would have to an autonomous armed drone intent on evil. Also, I'm pretty sure there are hobbyists out there who know very well how to hack the thing.

Ah, so just software, not something physical. Thanks.

Is is safe to assume that a "combat drone" is armed, where a "surveillance drone" is not?

If it has military markings all bets are off. Come to think of it, even with a quadcopter from Amazon, all bets are off.

We need drones to destroy the 'bad drones'.

Probably works okay in cities, but out here, they'd fall victim to shotgun fire.
