True story--years ago, my lovely wife and I were touring northeastern Indiana, right where one crosses the state line into Michigan. We pulled off the highway at a sign for a farmer's shop selling apples (they had many varieties). That store was located on Wozniak Rd. I always meant to write Steve about it, but never got around to it.
In our yard here, we have a Granny Smith apple tree. With the strange weather and drought, no apples this year. However, the cherry trees were heavy with fruit, same for the pears.
I used to bottle a case or two in Ontario when the apples came in. Important you get the crushed apples before they put the sulphites in to kill the yeast. Have to ask special. I used champagne yeast, and the result was rather similar to Asti, or Prosecco.
