That brought a smile to an otherwise terrible morning. Thanks for that!
  2.
    Brilliant
  3.
Men fear thought as they fear nothing else on earth -- more than ruin, more even than death. Thought is subversive and revolutionary, destructive and terrible, thought is merciless to privilege, established institutions, and comfortable habits; thought is anarchic and lawless, indifferent to authority, careless of the well-tried wisdom of the ages. Thought looks into the pit of hell and is not afraid ... Thought is great and swift and free, the light of the world, and the chief glory of man.

― Bertrand Russell, Why Men Fight
  4.
Thought may have looked into the pit of hell and been unafraid... but evidently thought has never tried to clean up after my housemate.

"It smacks of wisdom and, by nature, humans aren’t so much wise as clever. We use cleverness to obviate wisdom. That’s what’s destroying the planet, but it’s also the only hope of saving the planet." Ref.

But then there's this, which it is suggested would be of benefit to me:

"Having a trauma-informed practice helps to de-escalate charged interactions and challenges with arousal"

I'm sure that's right, whatever it means.

I think it means something like

"If you see lots of bad stuff in your practice (which I do) take a (metaphorical) deep breath so you'll be nicer to the people around you"

I would interpret it to mean something like: becoming more familiar with the appalling and horrific traumas that many other people have had to deal with in their lives shhould help you to gain some perspective when it comes to dealing with your own petty grievances and irritations.
  5.
How about "there but for the grace of ___ go I"

    (Insert your favourite higher power)

Possibly all those things, possible it's a little less altruistic (seeing they're trying to sell me a "Trauma Informed Practice" seminar.

I would construe it "If you understand the significance of concussion in sports training regimes you should climb down from any ladders erected near power lines and take Viagra."

    "...and being nice about it."

I certainly would avoid ladders that take Viagra. Snakes too.
